Sweet Baby Gwen

Saturday was moving day. While Jared and friends packed up the U-Haul with furniture, Gwen and I spent the morning with friends too...just relaxing! My friend, April, has a nice camera and she took a bunch of photos of Gwen looking so sweet. (I stole these photos from April's blog: dannyandaprilnewman.blogspot.com) Gwen is wonderful. After weighing 7 lbs 12 oz at her first doctor's appointment on March 25th, she went back to the pediatrician this morning and weighed in at 8lbs 2 oz. As the weight gain attests, she's sleeping and eating well. The eating well part also means lots of diapers! We don't mind a bit because she's so sweet.

Gwen at Home

Jared had to go back to work today, and we miss him already! He's been keeping everything organized at home by staying on top of Gwen's feeding/napping schedule, doing laundry and dishes, making me food and keeping my water bottle full, and packing up in anticipation of moving on Saturday. Most impressive, but not surprising, he's taken to being a dad with ease.Gwen had her first sponge bath yesterday.

Gwen is getting sleepy...
Gwen sleeps best wrapped up tight. She's our little baby burrito!

Gwen's First Few Days

We enjoyed our hospital stay, but were glad to go home Sunday afternoon. What a happy Easter for our family! We have been surprised at how often Gwen is calm and alert. She looks all around and turns her head when she hears one of us talking. Right now, we think her eyes are blue, and she has quite a bit of dark hair. When Gwen gets unwrapped after being swaddled for sleeping, she is warm and her skin is a lovely rosy red color. Gwen surprised us by spreading her little fingers and then interlocking them like this.

Here's Gwen

Here are a couple of photos of Gwen. I don't have time to write much as I am getting kicked out of the Panera Bread place where I'm using their free internet as the hospital doesn't have access. I get to stay with Ashley tonight and tomorrow night and we'll go home Sunday morning. I would email these to people, but I don't have anyone's email address. It will all be easier when we're back home and Ashley can get to work on spreading the good news to everyone.

Meet Gwen

Well I'm not as good as Ashley at this blogging thing. I usually just put on the videos, but special circumstances warrant that I make an announcement. On Friday March 21 at 12:46 am (that's am folks) Gwen (middle name TBD) Crosby was brought into the world...a little sooner than anticipated, but a welcomed sight nonetheless. She weighed in at 8lbs 1oz and was 19 in long, so I guess it's a good thing she didn't wait another week to come out. And most importantly she is the cutest baby in the world! Though others are entitled to their own opinions. She is doing great, as is mom, and hopefully will be coming home first thing Sunday. We're grateful to everyone who has been praying for us and we love you and look forward to having you meet Gwen in the coming months. More photos, comments, and details to come (from the more eloquent side of the Crosby's not to mention the one that went through the whole thing), but I need to get back to the hospital.
