To Market with Poppa

Today we took Poppa to the Saratoga Farmers' Market in Saratoga Springs. It was another beautiful day and we enjoyed the sites, sounds, and tastes of the market. A local restaurant had samples of a salmon artichoke spread on a cracker. Mom took a sample thinking she would split it with Gwen, but Gwen wanted it all. The guy handing out the samples asked Gwen, "How cute are you?" After quickly stuffing the cracker in her mouth, Gwen responded, "Two." While in the area, Gwen enjoyed a ride on the carousel in Congress Park and we made a few purchases at a favorite bakery. We came home with a dozen honey wheat rolls, three cupcakes, two cucumbers, two T-ball summer squash, and a yellow zucchini. Yum!

Grandma Earnshaw and Uncle Sam visited for a few days this week, and we really enjoyed their company. Gwen was especially fond of having Grandma Earnshaw for a playmate. However, there was no relaxing for Grandma as Gwen required her to be actively engaged in play at every moment. If Grandma wasn't holding a little person or if she turned to talk to someone else, Gwen would say in a demanding voice, "PAY! PAY!" until she had Grandma's full attention. Hopefully Gwen's play demands won't deter Grandma from future visits! (We're sure it won't!)

Curtains, Bowling Balls, and Sandwich Kisses

Grandma Earnshaw and her new sewing machine came to visit this past week. They were quite a productive team and created curtains for the master bedroom, the bathroom, and the nursery. If only they could have stuck around to address the window treatment needs of the rest of the house!

Aunt Olivia and Uncle Sam also came along, as it was their spring break. Gwen had her first bowling experience, and she was quite proud of her high scoring Dad.

We spent some time at the New York State Museum in Albany. The exhibits were great, and Gwen exhibiting her walking skills was entertaining too!

Fall + Family = Fun!

Jacob (Jared's older brother), Rachel, and Katie Belle came to visit us for a few days. They live in fall-less Florida, so we had fun enjoying colorful leaves, crisp apples, and other fall delights. We spent time in Albany at the New York State Museum, in Rexford at Bowman Orchards, in Saratoga Springs on Broadway, and in Glenville at our house!

This was a special visit because it was the first time Gwen was able to meet Uncle Jacob, Aunt Rachel, and Cousin Katie. Gwen liked watching Katie, and her older cousin taught her how to share and give kisses.

Although we'll miss Katie, Rachel, and Jacob until we see them at Christmas...

Gwen won't be lonely because talented Auntie Rachel made her a Personal PenGWEN! (Thanks Rachel!)

Gwen's Blessing Day

Gwen was the center of attention this weekend. This isn't the least bit unusual at our house, except that this weekend there was much more attention than normal with lots of family in town. Gwen was given a name and a blessing by Jared at church on Sunday, so family came to participate and celebrate. She wore a beautiful dress that was a gift from Great-Grandma and Grandpa King, a delicate sweater and booties made our friend Vilda, and she was wrapped in a lovely blanket made by Great-Grandma Earnshaw. We had a wonderful time together and appreciated everyone who traveled so far. Gwen felt very loved!
